Right in the middle of your happy, busy life, you need to delight in an exhilarating experience – one that makes you smile at the mere thought of it.
Lucky for you, Tamborine Mountain offers several extraordinary experiences– and our favourite three are all ‘must-dos’!
Imagine rising quietly above the Gold Coast hinterland in a HOT AIR BALLOON as rolling forests, glistening dams and fields of cattle just shrink silently away beneath you. There you are, floating serenely in the breeze under a pocket of air. Bliss!
WHALE WATCHING too is a breathtaking experience. Did you know that yes, you can whale watch from Tamborine Mountain! Less than an hour away, you can have the experience of a lifetime spending some time with these beautiful creatures of the sea AND be back in time for a late lunch.
But perhaps your idea of dream chasing involves a PUB CRAWL BY HELICOPTER! Picture yourself and a couple of friends paying flying visits – quite literally – to some of the best country pubs! Your pilot will land in paddocks and fields next to some of the Hinterland’s favourite watering holes and you’ll arrive in Rock Star style! Cold beers, tasty lunch…need we say more?
Tamborine Mountain offers you the opportunity to enjoy several completely free or low-cost once in a lifetime experiences. To begin with, the mountain itself is geologically unique. You don’t often get to stand on a plateau of lava that formed 22 million years ago. So that is a great starting point!
Tamborine Mountain today is famous for its magnificent rainforests, ancient trees, leafy walking tracks, the gorgeous views of the Gold Coast and the Hinterland and its cool and sparkling waterfalls and watering holes.
To swim in a waterhole is the perfect example of a free activity that many consider Bucket List worthy. To walk under towering gumtrees is delightful and humbling too, especially so when you come across 400 year old trees such as those found in Tamborine Mountain’s Witches Falls National Park.
This park is the third oldest in the world after Yellowstone Park in the USA and Royal National Park in NSW. There’s nothing quite like being in the presence of such an ancient, living and breathing 400yr old tree as it stands majestically on its enormous buttress roots. Take many photos while you’re there knowing that in years to come you’ll return with your children and grand-children who will also want a selfie with this great tree!
If you crave these exceptional, natural experiences, they abound on the Mountain, both by day and by night. Take for example the guided rainforest night walks that take place here; to witness the rainforest coming to life after sunset is thrilling. Your senses are heightened as you hear the rustle of every leaf, the call of every creature and see the glint of many inquisitive eyes in the beam of your torch. Pure Mountain magic!
