Punch Needle Embroidery with Bec Andersen (10.00am – 3.00pm)
Bec Andersen is a textile artist specialising in the design and production of hand tufted rugs. She has been making rugs for 25 years, designing and creating her unique rugs made purely from wool that she dyes herself from naturally derived pigments.
Punch needle embroidery, a member of the rug hooking family, is often referred to as painting with thread. With punch needle, your tool pierces the fabric on one side and leaves a loop on the other.
All kinds of textured crafts are trending right now, so it makes sense that needle punching has joined the ranks! This technique also allows you to mix different fibres, weights, and stitch heights to create to-die-for textures.
After a hearty breakfast, pack your scissors and make your way to Bec Andersen’s delightfully rustic studio by 10am.
Through the course of the day you will learn the basic techniques of Punch Needle Embroidery.
Bec will guide you on how to use the tools to create a small piece, such as a cushion or mat.
At the completion of the day, you will be ready to make bigger and better pieces of your own!

Today’s the final day to unlock your talent and have some fun with nature!
Having discovered basket weaving nearly 30 years ago Cindy Wood has created everything from baskets and sculpture to jewellery and lampshades, utilising a collection of rainforest debris, clay, pure wool felt, crystals and seeds.
In today’s workshop, you will learn the basic basket techniques, designed to spark and begin your own weaving journey. This is a great opportunity to reinvent yourself... refocus... relax... connect with new people... while being creative and inspired in a natural environment.
Your morning starts with a delightful breakfast at your accommodation before making your way to the workshop destination. Remember to wear old clothes or bring an apron as some natural fibres can stain; and bring your cushion along.
Commencing at 10am, you will enjoy a fabulously fun workshop in the garden being inspired by the magic of nature.
Cindy will share easy weaving techniques and simple ways to identify fibres from your garden and nature to utilize when making your own unique baskets. Using a base of cane you will add natural fibres from the garden to your own creation.
You will learn how to prepare banana fibres on the day and discuss storage possibilities and growing your own weaving supplies.
