Michael is a full-time potter/ceramic artist of over 30 years. Working from his studio at Eagle Heights on Tamborine Mountain, Michael is now offering classes for adults and children. Learn the craft of handmade pottery with personal tuition from a professional craftsman.
If you ever felt the need to get your hands in that gooey clay then this could be for you! Michael creates amazingly beautiful objects and runs courses for beginner, intermediate and advanced potters. Hand- building, wheel-throwing, glazing and decorating – learn it all at Michael’s studio.
“In the years I have been practising my craft as an artisan I have created many exciting projects. Using elements of fire, water and earth to create something beautiful has always been challenging and very rewarding. Introducing sound into this creative mix has been truly exciting and has taken me in to an experience I had not imagined. This body of work began as an attempt to make simple totem sculptures based around interesting organic shapes I had seen in a collection of didgeridoos. At the suggestion of a didge playing friend I decided to explore the possibility of creating sound from these totems.
Since 2008 I have been researching and learning to play Didgeridoo. This collection of ceramic totems plays exceptionally well, with a beautifully rich tone and high volume level and is my interpretation of the traditional timber instrument.”

Studio Experience and lunch
4.5 hours to work on a significant piece such as a large hand built bowl.
The day would be consist of 2 hours in the morning with an introduction to my working methods
and commence working on their own piece under my tuition.
A brake for a light lunch and wine in a beautiful setting with expansive views of the Gold Coast and Hinterland.
Regroup in the studio to to finish construction of their work.
The finished pieces will by fired and glazed by me and sent out or delivered within 2 weeks.

A Morning In the Studio
Spend 2 hours in my studio.
Session will begin with an introduction to my working methods.
Have a hands on experience and make a couple of small hand built pieces
which will be fired and posted out within 2 weeks
Finish with a turn on the potters wheel just for fun
